We are a group of concerned citizens from all across the globe - women, men, young, (kinda) old, straight, gay, atheist, religious, from various racial and cultural backgrounds.

We are just like you.

The whole world has been living in fear since September 2001. Ask yourself why. Ask yourself who is making you afraid. Ask yourself who benefits most from you being afraid. Your answers might be different from ours. That's OK. We don't care if you're afraid of terrorists, afraid of gays getting married, afraid of the Bush administration, afraid of not being able to pay your bills, afraid of going out at night, afraid of getting hijacked, afraid of getting burgled, afraid of complicated ideas, afraid of dying - we want everyone to take a stand and LIVE WITHOUT FEAR.

We were prompted to start this after the 2004 American election. All of us, Americans and non-Americans alike, believed that John Kerry offered the brightest hope for the future of America. All America had to do was be able to look forward with hope, choose hope. Instead, because we have been smothered by fear for over three years, the country voted for more of the same. More Terror. More Fear.

The symbol we've made is based on the oldest Chinese ideogram for homecoming or return. It is also related to symbols from various different cultures meaning house, safe returns, independent movement.

We think it represents our overarching ideas perfectly. From wanting to return to a happy, comfortable, free lifestyle, to wanting our troops to have a safe return. From believing in the right to freedom in our home, family and personal life to encouraging ourselves and others to think independently and out of the box.

We need to think about what 'Freedom' and 'Liberty' mean to us, literally. 'Liberty' comes from the French word liberté and the Latin libertas - which gave us the words 'liberal' and 'liberate'. 'Freedom' comes from the German freis (free) and freihals (freedom). While they are both synonymous, there is a very, very subtle difference. 'Liberty' is more about being free from binds or oppression; 'Freedom' is more about being immune from obligation or duty.

Liberty, Liberate. Liberal. If you believe in one of them, you believe in all of them.

Freedom is not a selfish desire to do whatever you want whenever you want. Freedom is living without Fear. Freedom is not being fearful of speaking your mind. Freedom is not being fearful of coming out to your family and friends. Freedom is not being fearful of being an individual. Freedom is not being fearful of your neighbors. Freedom is not being fearful of being independent. Freedom is not being fearful in order to appear more patriotic.

Freedom is opening the door for someone else. Freedom is helping an old lady across the street. Freedom is letting someone pull out into traffic. Freedom is buying a homeless person a meal. Freedom is getting to know your neighbors. Freedom is accepting. Freedom is helping. Freedom is tolerance. Freedom is being altruistic. Freedom is being considerate. Freedom is being heroic. Freedom is loving and being loved. Freedom is being proud of being you.

Our Freedom starts by us being able to do those little things on a day to day basis. Little things will grow into big things. One day we hope we will all be free from Fear.

WAR ON FEAR

We really need you to help us fight the War on Fear. Start by turning off your TV. Stop watching the news. Turn it off. The world is a wonderful place is you're not viewing through the distortion of the cathode ray.

Refuse to be afraid anymore. It is in your control. Don't let anyone tell you to be afraid of anything.

The aim of a terrorist is to terrify a population. They can only win if you are afraid. They can only win if you are afraid.

Think about why Franklin Delano Roosevelt said, 'The only thing we have to fear is fear itself--nameless, unreasoning, unjustified terror which paralyzes needed efforts to convert retreat into advance."

We want to move forward without fear.

FEAR QUOTES:

Bertrand Russell: "Collective fear stimulates herd instinct, and tends to produce ferocity toward those who are not regarded as members of the herd."

Dorothy Thompson: "There is nothing to fear except the persistent refusal to find out the truth, the persistent refusal to analyze the causes of happenings."

Thomas Jefferson: "Question with boldness even the existence of a God; because, if there be one, he must more approve of the homage of reason, than that of blind-folded fear."

Eric Hoffer: "You can discover what your enemy fears most by observing the means he uses to frighten you. "

Eleanor Roosevelt: "You gain strength, courage, and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You must do the thing which you think you cannot do."
